Here are the groups for this season’s Champions League draw including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City.
The draw for the Champions League group stage has been made as Europe’s best clubs compete to wrestle the trophy away from Real Madrid.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City provide the English challenge for the title in four very difficult groups as the teams fight for the chance to compete in the knock out stage.
The groups are as following;
Group A
Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Olympiacos, Malmo FF
Group B
Real Madrid, FC Basel, Liverpool, Ludogorets
The stand out fixture for Liverpool is a clash with the current European champions Real Madrid. Brendan Rodgers’ side will fancy their chances of getting out of the group as they’re likely to be favoured ahead of both Basel and Ludogorets.
Group C
Benfica, Zenit St Petersburg, Bayer Leverkusen, AS Monaco
Group D
Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Galatasaray, Anderlecht
This is a really difficult group for the Gunners. They will be favourites alongside BVB but they face a difficult trip to Turkey and there will be a real scrap between three sides for the top two places in this group.
Group E
Bayern Munich, Manchester City, CSKA Moscow, AS Roma
Manchester City will probably feel as though they have been given the toughest test out of all the English sides. They are matched up against German giants Bayern Munich, which will be difficult but there’s no let up with tough conditions likely in Russia and Roma providing tough opposition.
Group F
Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Ajax, Apoel
Group G
Chelsea, FC Schalke 04, Sporting Lisbon, NK Maribor
Jose Mourinho couldn’t have hoped for a better group and the Blues will be the odds on favourites. Schalke and Sporting will provide the toughest opposition but the West Londoners should be confident of winning the group.
Group H
FC Porto, Shakhtar Donetsk, Athletic Bilbao, FC Bate Borisov
The first matches of the Champions League group stage will be played on September 16.
