Rangers wanted Scott McTominay but after his selection against Sevilla it shows they never stood a chance.
Glasgow Rangers plotted an ambitious move to sign Manchester United’s Scott McTominay on loan in January but this was scuppered by Jose Mourinho.
The Scottish Sun reported Rangers’ plan to bring McTominay to Ibrox but Mourinho felt the young midfielder was needed at Old Trafford.
This was demonstrated last night when Mourinho selected McTominay for United’s Champions League clash with Sevilla, picking him ahead of £89 million superstar Paul Pogba.
McTominay did what was asked of him in midfield, completed 91 per cent of his passes and making three clearances.
Making a switch to Glasgow clearly would have been an error for McTominay, who has a golden opportunity right now.
Rangers meanwhile ended up signing Sean Goss, a former United trainee who is currently at QPR.
