The Chelsea defender has been linked with a move to Aston Villa.

There is a new front-runner in the race to sign the Aston Villa-linked Chelsea centre-back, Ethan Ampadu, according to the Sun.
Aston Villa are among the clubs credited with an interest in Ampadu, who was omitted from Chelsea’s pre-season tour squad to finalise a loan move away from Stamford Bridge, courtesy of the Daily Mail.
But the Sun reports that RB Leipzig have now emerged as favourites for the Wales international and are ‘looking at offering him regular league football’ and ‘a chance in the Champions League’.
As well as not being able to facilitate the latter, Aston Villa could find first-team chances difficult to grant, having already signed a quartet of centre-backs – Kortney Hause, Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa and Bjorn Engels – this summer.

And the Villans are expected to complete the signing of the Manchester City midfielder, Douglas Luiz, which could also limit Ampadu’s opportunities further up the field.
Whether or not Aston Villa remain keen on the Chelsea teenager is currently unclear, although a move to Villa Park now seems unlikely, either way.
