Aston Villa are back in the Premier League.

When Aston Villa suffered relegation to the Premier League they put together a plan to bounce straight back, with Roberto di Matteo at the helm.
One of the early errors made in 2016/17 was to sign Pierluigi Gollini for £4.25 million and make him the club’s first choice goalkeeper.
The former Manchester United trainee struggled in the Championship and Villa eventually gave up on him.
He was sent on loan to Italian side Atalanta, who ended up signing him permanently. It’s a deal which ultimately has benefited everybody.
Villa clinched promotion this weekend, ending a three year odyssey in the Championship.
Gollini went one better, helping Atalanta clinch a top four spot in Serie A and land a Champions League place, at the expense of AC Milan and Roma.

The 24-year-old was rewarded with his first Italy international call up in over a year.
Sometimes players just don’t fit at a club or in a league. Gollini is best off staying put at Atalanta for a long time, whatever opportunities the Champions League spotlight throws his way.
