Peterborough United co-owner Darragh MacAnthony has suggested that reported Celtic target Ivan Toney is very close to a move away from his side, on the club’s official Youtube channel.
MacAnthony has already suggested that Toney is expected to leave this summer, amid rumoured interest from Celtic.
And the Posh chairman has now claimed that the powerful forward’s departure could be imminent, although he is still training with Peterborough right now.
“Let’s not focus on people that are going, let’s focus on people that are here,” MacAnthony said, when asked for an update on the Celtic target’s future.
“He’s with us right now, but he might not be tomorrow. That’s the way it goes. We plan for life without him and we’re on a mission.
“Good luck if he goes, if he stays – great.”
The Daily Record have claimed that Celtic want to sign Toney, but they are struggling to agree a fee for the forward.
Peterborough want a sizeable fee for their leading marksman, who bagged 26 goals last season.
Posh director Barry Fry has suggested that Toney actually would like a move to Celtic (Daily Mail), but the Bhoys will have to up their offer if they are to have a chance of landing him.
If Toney was to join Celtic, he would become the second striker than the Bhoys have signed this summer, following the arrival of Albian Ajeti.
