Tom Werner has revealed that Liverpool will have a Premier League title-winning parade at some point.
The Reds would’ve been crowned Premier League champions by now for the first time in their history if not for the global health crisis.
Liverpool, who have a 25-point lead at the top of the table, needed only two more wins to mathematically guarantee themselves a first league title for 30 years.
Jurgen Klopp’s side won the Champions League in June of last year and some 750,000 fans lined the streets of Liverpool for an open-top bus parade through the city in celebration.
And Werner has revealed plans to have the same sort of arrangement if and when they’re confirmed as Premier League winners.
He told The Associated Press: “I thought I never could imagine experiencing anything like that [the post-Champions League celebrations].
“Then somebody said, ‘Well, if we win the Premier League, this parade will be dwarfed.’
“So, I am looking forward to a parade sometime when we can all congregate because I know how important that means to all of our supporters.”
This is exciting for two reasons.
1) Football is entirely about the fans and it would’ve been tragic for Liverpool to win a first-ever Premier League title and not be able to share it with their fans in some capacity.
2) The Reds’ chairman is clearly optimistic that they will indeed be confirmed as title winners at some point, after early worries about the season being rendered null and void.
