Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has said that Leeds United are not in for Ivan Toney yet, but they should be.
Leeds are though to be on the hunt for a new forward, and Toney has already said to Sky Sports that he would like a Premier League move.
The striker, who scored 26 goals last term, looks like a potential fit for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
However, Leeds are yet to make contact with Peterborough over the 24-year-old forward.
And MacAnthony feels that the Whites are missing a trick by not signing his side’s star man.
Peterborough seem resigned to losing Toney, as he is simply too good for League One.
Posh value Toney at £9 million (Daily Record), which makes him a fairly expensive purchase considering he is completely unproven above the third tier, but he does seem to have the capabilities to play much higher.
Toney is not only blessed with great aerial ability, but he is also a ruthless finisher and is excellent at linking the play with the ball at his feet.
If he was to join Leeds he could really put the pressure on Patrick Bamford for a spot up-front, but the Whites may be hunting someone who is slightly more proven.
