Callum Hudson-Odoi has started in Chelsea’s last three games, with Frank Lampard clearly rating the youngster.
Hudson-Odoi has recently returned from injury for Chelsea, and he has wasted no time breaking back into Frank Lampard’s line-up.
The 18-year-old Chelsea youngster has started in Lampard’s side’s last three matches across all competitions, and his form has earned him a great deal of praise.
Hudson-Odoi was one of Chelsea’s major attacking threats in their 1-0 win over Ajax in the Champions League in midweek.
Although his final ball was not always the most accurate, the England international was always an outlet for his side as he carried the fight to the Dutch side.
And Azpilicueta admits that he thinks Hudson-Odoi could have a huge future at Stamford Bridge.
“I think Callum is a very important player for us,” the £90,000-a-week (Spotrac) defender said.
“He’s going to be massive player in the future for Chelsea but we have to accept the progression. Still, to be 18 years old and the way he’s playing is amazing. The only way I can see is by his work rate going up and improving.”
Despite his excellent form, Hudson-Odoi’s place in Chelsea’s line-up could be under some pressure.
Christian Pulisic is really pushing for a start after two impressive substitute appearances and there is a chance that the American could replace Hudson-Odoi at the weekend.
Chelsea’s next match comes against Burnley, where Lampard’s side will be looking to continue their strong run of form.
