Tim Vickery told the Transfer Talk on Sky Sports (13/01/21 at 1:25 am) that Jose Mourinho is ‘certainly interested’ in bringing Eder Militao to Tottenham.

The South American football expert shared that the rumours of Tottenham wanting to sign the Real Madrid man come from Portugal – Mourinho’s homeland.

A versatile defender, who can also operate at fullback, Militao would be a smart purchase for Spurs and would add that comfort that Mourinho needs at the back.

Vickery shared his thoughts on the Militao-Spurs interest and what type of player the out-of-favour Madrid man is.

“He’s just about to turn 23,” said Vickery. “He’s a big Brazilian defender. He started off as a full-back and has since been converted into a centre-back. He can play both.

“The news here [in Brazil] that Jose Mourinho is certainly interested and the information we are getting from that is coming from Portugal, so the Portuguese press, of course, have good contacts with Mourinho.

“So, watch this space. If Mourinho’s interested then maybe this will go through.

“He’s a strapping lad – Brazil absolutely love him. They have seen him as a long-term substitute to Thiago Silva in the heart of their defence. But things have gone a little bit wrong at Real Madrid. He’s not getting a regular game.

“He’s not that radically different to Davinson Sanchez. Strapping figure. Quick. But Mourinho obviously sees something in him that he obviously doesn’t have with Davinson Sanchez.”

Tottenham dropped more points on Wednesday night as they recorded a 1-1 draw against Fulham.

Whilst Heung-Min Son missed a number of chances, the defending for Fulham’s equaliser would have certainly riled up Mourinho.

More options are perhaps needed at the back for Spurs, especially more trust in the right full-back area because both Matt Doherty and Serge Aurier aren’t exactly winning their manager over.
