Brighton and Hove Albion deputy chairman and CEO Paul Barber has said on talkSPORT (12:29pm, August 30, 2022) that Moises Caicedo will not join Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal or Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the final days of the summer transfer window.

Arsenal and Liverpool want to sign Moises Caicedo

Caicedo has been linked with both Arsenal and Liverpool.

Well-known and well-respected journalist Dean Jones told GiveMeSport last week that if Arsenal fail to sign Belgium international midfielder Youri Tielemans from Premier League rivals Leicester City in the summer transfer window, then they could make a move for Brighton star Caicedo.

Studio Futbol reported last week that Manchester United want to sign Caicedo, but the midfielder does not fancy a move to Old Trafford.

The report claimed that Liverpool could make a bid of £42 million for the 20-year-old Ecuador international midfielder.

Brighton and Hove Albion’s stance

Barber said about Caicedo on talkSPORT (12:29pm, August 30, 2022), as transcribed by The Argus: “Moises Caicedo has done well but he is still a very young player.

“We know with young players form is sometimes inconsistent and we don’t want the kind of pressure on Moises that these kinds of headlines create.

“But he is a very level-headed young man. He is more than capable of dealing with it, in our opinion.

“He has settled into the Premier League fantastically and potentially he has got a World Cup to look forward to as well. It’s a really good time for Moises and we’re delighted to have him.”

Stats

Moises Caicedo has been on the books of Brighton and Hove Albion since 2021 and spent the first half of the 2021-22 season on loan at Beerschot.

The midfielder has scored one goal in 12 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

Caicedo has made four appearances in the league for the Seagulls so far this season.
