The duo are currently spending the season on loan away from Aston Villa.

Only two teams in the entirety of the Championship have scored fewer goals this season than Aston Villa’s 33. If that wasn’t concerning enough, the identity of the misfiring duo should send a shiver down Steve Bruce’s spine – Rotherham United and Wigan Athletic, the league’s bottom two.
Whether or not Villa would have troubled the opposition net more frequently if they hadn’t let two of their most naturally gifted players leave at the start of the season is merely hypothetical, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.
Jordan Veretout and Carles Gil may possess the ability to produce something out of nothing but if they were considered too lightweight for the Premier League, then the burly Championship would have seemed a habitat too harsh for their impish skills.
Yet, Vila CEO Keith Wyness has suggested to the Birmingham Mail that Villa futures of Veretout and Gil (below), spending the season on loan at St Etienne and Deportivo respectively, are far from over.

“Are Carles Gil and Jordan Veretout suitable for the Championship?” Wyness wondered, asking the question Villa fans have been wondering for some time.
“We are very aware of these players and have a loan manager who watches all of the players out on loan. We would have a lot of eyes on the future of these players and they are big decisions going forward.
“Certainly the door is not closed.”
Veretout looked bright on occasions in his debut season at Villa Park despite struggling with the pace of the English game. However, his impressive goalscoring record at former club Nantes, plus recent links with Juventus, suggest it’s worth handing him a second chance.

Gil, meanwhile, is remembered for the odd wondergoal in claret and blue, through his genius was often undermined by anonymity. However, the Spaniard’s unpredictability could make him the joker in Bruce’s pack.
If Villa are to escape the second tier, they need players with a touch of magic in their boots.
