Aston Villa and Everton have been boosted in their pursuit of Arnaut Danjuma with Villarreal now revealing their financial issues.

What’s the story?

Well, it was El Periódico Mediterráneo who revealed that Everton have submitted a bid to sign the Netherlands international.

Elsewhere, the Mirror claimed that Unai Emery wants to reunite with Danjuma at Villa Park.

Now, both the Villans and the Toffees have received a boost, after Roig Negueroles – Chief Executive Officer of Villarreal – admitted that he will need to cut costs.

As quoted by AS in Spain, the 48-year-old said: “We are a team that is in a situation that we have to improve, it’s not a complicated situation, but it does force us to make some adjustments.

“We are a little above our means, so we are obliged to adjust salaries and costs to our reality. What we don’t want is to have to sell by obligation or to be suffering from a similar situation, what we want is to try to balance the situation sooner.”

While that is sad to hear in regards to one of Spain’s greatest sides, it will be music to the ears of Emery and Frank Lampard.

Danjuma – who Villarreal paid £21.3m to sign from Bournemouth in 2021 – is one of their most valuable assets, although he has not been in the starting XI much since Emery left for Aston Villa.

The 25-year-old was left on the bench by Quique Setién for the recent 2-1 win over Valencia, and was given just one minute in the following game against Real Madrid, another 2-1 win.

Therefore, if Setién isn’t going to use Danjuma, one of Villarreal’s highest earners on £34,000-a-week, you would expect him to be offloaded, either on loan or on a permanent basis.

Aston Villa or Everton could land a bargain

In our view, Aston Villa or Everton could secure themselves a bargain in Danjuma by taking advantage of Villarreal’s financial problems.

The Dutchman is an excellent forward, and – by his own admission – was one of the best wingers in Europe.

Danjuma even admitted that Liverpool wanted him while they searched for a Sadio Mane replacement, so he clearly has talent.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as we expect further developments soon.
