The Turkish striker has struggled to break into the Everton team since his transfer from Besiktas.

Everton got back to winning ways in the Premier League this afternoon, beating Crystal Palace 3-1 at Goodison Park.

Yet again though there was a surprise, as Everton manager Sam Allardyce continues to leave Turkish striker Cenk Tosun out in the cold.

Everton splashed out £27 million on the Besiktas forward in January, as reported by the BBC, to finally replace Romelu Lukaku.

But he has not had an immediate impact at the club. Sam Allardyce has simply not taken to him and Tosun again sat the entire game today on the bench.

He should take heart however from the man currently getting picked ahead of him. Tosun can not shift Oumar Niasse from the first-team.

Niasse, like Tosun, was an expensive January recruit for Everton. He was signed by Roberto Martinez in 2016 but struggled to get into the Everton team. The following summer he was demoted, stripped off his shirt number and revoked his locker at Finch Farm, with Ronald Koeman simply not interested in using him. He cost Everton a fee reported by the Daily Mail to be in the region of £13.5 million but was cast aside early into his Everton career.

But after an impressive spell on loan at Hull City the Senegalese striker has muscled his way back into the first-team this season and performed admirably – scoring eight goals in 18 games this season.

Niasse, like Tosun, struggled to make an impact when adjusting to a mid-season transfer, but has come back from the absolute brink to be a first-team feature at Goodison Park. Tosun does not need to look far to find his inspiration.
