Cenk Tosun claims Sam Allardyce has promised him starts at Everton

Everton striker Cenk Tosun has struggled for appearances so far this season.

Cenk Tosun has told Haberturk that Everton boss Sam Allardyce has promised him that he will become a regular starter, once he has adapted to playing in England.

Tosun was brought to Everton from Besiktas during the January transfer window, but he has found it difficult to break into Allardyce’s team so far.

The Turkish forward has made just three appearances in the Premier League since arriving, and he is yet to complete 90 minutes.

But Tosun insists that Allardyce has assured him he will become a regular starter.

“I moved from Turkish league which the league I’m playing for years to the toughest league in the world. It’s hard to adapt. Sam told me that too.

“He always talks to me. I’ve zero problems. He told me that when I fit into the league and team, I’ll be a regular starter.”

Allardyce has favoured Oumar Niasse over Tosun in Everton’s last two fixtures.

Tosun was kept on the bench as Everton beat Leicester City, and was only given 12 minutes worth of action against Arsenal last weekend.

Niasse has failed to take his chance up-front though, and Tosun could come back into Allardyce’s thinking on Saturday.

Everton’s next match comes against Crystal Palace, and the pressure is on Allardyce’s men to pick up the three points.
