Celtic hitman Vakoun Bayo can’t wait for this afternoon’s trip to Rangers.

Ibrox plays host to the first Old Firm derby of the season as both the Hoops and the Gers look to maintain their 100 percent starts to the Scottish Premiership season, though only one can.

Bayo, who scored twice in Celtic’s win last week, has struggled with injury since his £2 million switch from Slovakia in January [Herald Scotland].

But the Ivorian striker has said that he’s ready to face Rangers if Bhoys boss Neil Lennon needs him.

“If Neil Lennon decides I will play then I am ready. I feel fit, my injuries are behind me and I am ready,” he told The Scottish Daily Mail.

“It’s my first experience of this game against Rangers and I want to show everybody what I can do. If I get a chance, I know I have to score.

“In Slovakia we had a big derby against Slovan Bratislava but there were maybe 20,000 fans there. Here, it is totally different. I have been waiting for this.”

Bayo, who has only managed 99 minutes of football in all competitions this season, is a different option to Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths for Celtic.

Rangers have very tall centre-backs in the form of Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic, and if either of Lennon’s other two strikers aren’t finding joy then maybe Bayo, with an increased aerial threat, can pose problems that Edouard and Griffiths cannot.
