Celtic turned in a torrid display on Saturday afternoon as they were beaten 2-0 by rivals Rangers.
The Bhoys were missing a host of players as Hatem Abd Elhamed, Nir Bitton, Christopher Jullien, Ryan Christie and Odsonne Edouard were all ruled out.
That’s no real excuse for such a dismal performance though, as Celtic fell to a couple of Connor Goldson goals at Parkhead.
Neil Lennon’s side were lacking in energy and intent throughout, and nothing sums up their passive display quite like Celtic having no shots on target in a home derby.
That’s quite simply not good enough, and Rangers now hold a four-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
Defender Shane Duffy grew up supporting Celtic, so playing in an Old Firm derby must have been a dream – but it soon turned into a nightmare.
The centre back took to Instagram to post an emotional message, admitting that he wasn’t good enough and neither were the rest of the side, but vowed to put it right.
Duffy added that it hurt him personally and apologised to the fans, with the Irishman clearly taking this defeat hard.
Ex-Celtic striker Tony Watt offered a message to Duffy, branding him a ‘top player’, whilst Crystal Palace’s James McCarthy – another boyhood Celtic fan – send a love heart and an Irish flag to Duffy, giving his support on a difficult day.
