Celtic ace Scott Brown has hailed Hearts teenager Harry Cochrane.
Celtic captain Scott Brown has told the Daily Mail that he felt Hearts youngster Harry Cochrane impressed against the Bhoys on Sunday afternoon.
The Bhoys saw their 69-game unbeaten domestic run come to an end on Sunday afternoon, as they were thrashed 4-0 at Tynecastle by Hearts.
Harry Cochrane got the scoring started with a fine low drive, before ex-Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty added a second, and winger Manuel Milinkovic added two second goals to make it 4-0.
Whilst most of the post-match discussion has revolved around Celtic’s run coming to an end, Hearts teenager Cochrane has been receiving some well-deserved praise.
Glasgow-born Cochrane is just 16 but is already featuring in the Hearts first team, with eight appearances to his name this term and now one goal scored.
The former Rangers trainee is being touted for stardom already, and The Scottish Sun report that Leeds United are interested in snapping him up for a fee of £500,000.
With Scottish football buzzing at the prospect of seeing Cochrane develop into a star domestically and on the international stage, Celtic captain Scott Brown has been asked about the midfielder having faced off on Sunday.
Brown has told the Daily Mail that he was impressed with Cochrane’s performance, and believes it’s important for Scottish football that young players are given chances, praising Hearts for their tactics on the day too.
“It is great for Scottish football to have young laddies coming through,” said Brown. “The more Scottish players coming through in the Scottish league the better it is for everyone, I think. I am up against quite a lot of players, it is not just individual battles, it is about us closing gaps.”
“He [Cochrane] played well on the day and he deserved the victory. Craig Levein got his tactics and his team spot on,” he added.
