Celtic midfielder Scott Brown was very complimentary toward his Hoops team-mate.
Scott Brown has told Celtic’s official website that team-mate Craig Gordon reminded everybody of his “class” in Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Rangers at Parkhead.
Graeme Murty’s side held Celtic to a bore draw in a game which saw both Old Firm rivals miss golden opportunities to score.
Alfredo Morelos was the man guilty of missing goalscoring chances for the visitors, but his first one was particularly memorable as Gordon brilliantly saved the Colombian’s point-blank header with his legs after the break.
The Scotland keeper, signed by Ronny Deila in 2014, is no stranger to criticism and even this season has courted his fair share of detractors – including from Celtic fans.
But Brown claims that his performance against the old enemy reiterated his importance.
“Craigy is fantastic,” he told Celtic’s official website. “There are a lot of people who doubt him but it shows what a class goalie yet again.
“He’s great with his feet and he makes great saves and that’s why we pay top dollar to have a top-quality keeper like that.”
Gordon is indeed a very fine goalkeeper, but he turned 35 on Sunday and long term you could forgive Brendan Rodgers if he was planning to replace him soon.
The truth is that the former Sunderland star is capable of the occasional moment of brilliance, but he’s also prone to the odd moment of madness and there is no reason why these would stop at this stage.
