Celtic lost 2-0 to Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers this afternoon.

Glen Kamara of Rangers is tackled by Scott Brown of Celtic during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Stadium on May 12, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Scott Brown has admitted to The Scottish Sun that Rangers deserved to beat Celtic today.

Ibrox played host as Steven Gerrard’s side beat Celtic 2-0 in the last Old Firm derby of the season.

Goals from James Tavernier and Scott Arfield did the damage for Rangers but, as ever, there was an element of controversy.

Gers defender Jon Flanagan appeared to catch the Hoops skipper with a forearm in what could have been interpreted as a red card offence, though he got away with it.

But the 33-year-old midfielder admits that a red card for Flanagan probably wouldn’t have changed the outcome, conceding that Gerrard’s troops were superior on the day.

He told The Scottish Sun: “I don’t think it would have changed the outcome of the game. We didn’t deserve to win today, Rangers played better than we did.”

It’s a classy admission by Brown. Celtic were comfortably second best on the day and instead of glossing over it, the Bhoys captain has taken it on the chin.

Neil Lennon’s side, who won the Scottish Premiership title last week, will have to move on, as they clash with Hearts in a Scottish Cup final in two weeks.
