Celtic captain comments on clash against Rangers.
Celtic midfielder Scott Brown has told the Daily Record he feels he did nothing wrong against Rangers.
Brown was strongly criticised and brought before the Scottish FA.
He insists he feels his behaviour was good in the Old Firm game, and is proud that he did not react to attackers from Rangers stars.
He referred to incidents with Rangers duo Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent, where they hit out at him, and he chose not to retaliate.
Brown said: “I don’t care. I think for me I celebrated with my team-mates and a fight kicked off and I walked away from it.
“Somebody elbowed me in the face and I walked away from it.
Somebody punched me in the face and I walked away from it. If I was a hooligan I’d have started a brawl in the middle of the pitch.
“But I just walked away from it all, I didn’t want to get myself booked or suspended. I think I acted quite well on the day.”
Rangers fans will disagree, but Brown’s restraint should be commended, because he could have inflamed the situation further by hitting back.
That might have made Rangers players’ lack of discipline more justifiable, instead Brown standing there, laughing, smiling and taunting, made them even more frustrated.
Brown has learned to keep his head, Rangers players must do the same.
