The Belgium-based teenager would suit Celtic’s buy low, sell high approach.
When Brendan Rodgers’ finalised the signing of 19-year-old Ivorian midfielder Kouassi Eboue earlier in the January transfer window, he wasted no time explaining how the African market was one of untapped potential. Therefore, Celtic’s pursuit of Henry Onyekuru, according to the Daily Record, could be the latest example of the Northern Irishman’s ambitions.
The teenage Nigerian striker has set Belgian football alight with 10 goals, and six assists, in 22 top flight games for KAS Eupen this season. However, the 19-year-old, owned by Qatari-based youth academy Aspire, is not for sale in January, the Daily Record adds.

However, this should not deter Rodgers from making Onyekuru a primary target.
After all, he recognises the need to sign low and sell high, having already confirmed to the Daily Record that Eboue (below) would likely follow in the footsteps of Virgil Van Dijk, Gary Hooper, Joe Ledley and co and earn a big money move south of the border should he impress in the Scottish Premiership.
Therefore, Celtic should not view Onyekuru’s £3 million asking price as an overinflated demand for a player who has only recently made an impact in the European game. They should see it as an investment. Because, if the striker fulfils his potential, Celtic will be in the money once again.
