Celtic face Rosenborg, RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg in the Europa League group stages.
Celtic’s official Twitter account has shown its humorous side by replying to a Tweet from the Europa League with the answer “Kieran Tierney”.
The Hoops were knocked out of the Champions League qualifying stage by AEK Athens and were forced to compete for a place in the Europa League, which saw them knock Lithuanian side FK Suduva out of the competition.
It sees Brendan Rodgers’ side go up against RedBull Leipzig, RedBull Salzburg and Rosenborg – the latter of whom they faced in the previous rounds of Champions League qualifying.
The Europa League posted a Tweet asking fans which row of four players competing in this season’s competition you would pick. They included the likes of AC Milan’s Gonzalo Higuain, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Frankfurt’s Ante Rebic.
Tierney, 21, has established himself as one of Celtic’s best players and with the sale of Moussa Dembele to French side Lyon, he is arguably the best the Scottish champions have got.
Celtic replied to the Europa League’s Tweet simply with “Kieran Tierney” rather than picking a whole row, showing just how much the club appreciate their homegrown star.
Tierney has just been in action for Scotland during the international break, featuring in the 4-0 defeat to Belgium and the 2-0 Nations League win over Albania. He is expected to feature against St. Mirren on Friday.
