Celtic’s season is drawing to a close and sooner or later Brendan Rodgers must make a decision over Odsonne Edouard.
The 20-year-old striker joined Celtic on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain last summer and Rodgers must pay £7 million [Daily Record] to make the move permanent.
This figure has been common knowledge for quite a while but the fact that his future is still up in the air indicates that Rodgers might be unsure about Edouard, who has netted nine goals across 27 games in all competitions this season.
But the Northern Irishman may have to stop dithering, as the Hoops might not be the only club interested in him come this summer.
French outlet L’Equipe named him as PSG’s best loan player this season. His form in Glasgow hasn’t gone under the radar and receiving column inches from the biggest newspaper in France is bound to get other suitors talking about him.
At £7 million, that is hardly spare change for Celtic, but if they want Edouard – who scored a fine winner against Rangers last month – then the decision to pay the money must come sooner rather than later, or else Rodgers, who rates him as one of the best young players that he has worked with, may miss out.
Edouard finished ahead of: Alec Georgen [AZ Alkmaar]; Moussa Diaby [Crotone]; Jonathan Ikone [Montpellier] and Remy Deschamps [Tours] back in fifth.
