Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard is hoping he has done enough to earn a spot against Rangers next weekend.

Edouard is on loan from Paris Saint-Germain and Celtic are still weighing up whether to try and buy him permanently in the summer.

Making a decisive impact against Rangers would substantially help his cause, but first he must get the opportunity.

The 20-year-old is desperate to get that chance, and speaks passionately about his hopes to feature.

Edouard told The Telegraph: “For me, this is the most important match of the year. It’s against our biggest rivals.

“On these days, victory for the fans is very important. You cannot think about defeat.

“We know it will be hard at Rangers’ home but we are used to high-pressure situations. Of course, I hope I have done enough to be included in the game. It would mean everything to me to be involved.”

Edouard certainly appears to understand the importance of the game and accepts it will be a challenge considering Rangers’ recent form.

Rangers are just six points behind Celtic at present although Brendan Rodgers’ side have a game in hand. Victory over Rangers would more or less secure the title there and then.

Edouard was a substitute in Celtic’s cup win over Morton at the weekend, which set up a semi-final against Rangers.

If he does not feature this weekend then he still will have the big occasion at Hampden to aim for.
