Celtic have a proper star on their hands in the form of Jeremie Frimpong.

Neil Lennon has described Jeremie Frimpong as a ‘little energetic buzz bomb’ following his Scottish Premiership debut for Celtic.

The teenage right-back made Hoops fans very excited with a stunning bow this past weekend as Lennon’s side thumped Ross County 6-0 at Parkhead.

Frimpong joined Celtic in a £350,000 deal from Manchester City and Saturday offered a glimpse into his frightening potential.

At 18, the youngster is going to get so much better and Lennon revealed to Celtic TV that his ‘outstanding’ form in training meant that he simply had to play him.

He said: “What you see on the pitch is what you see away from the pitch. He’s this little energetic buzz bomb, he’s all personality and he’s just really proud to be here.

“The week leading into the Ross County game, his training levels were outstanding and it was just impossible to leave him out of the game.”

Well done to Lennon and Nick Hammond.

Celtic went into the summer transfer window with virtually no right-backs after losing Cristian Gamboa, Jeremy Touljan and Mikael Lustig.

But fast forward a couple months and the Bhoys’ options for that role were improved in a major way, with Frimpong being joined at Lennoxtown by Hatem Elhamed and Moritz Bauer, both of whom have looked class since joining too.

Frimpong has only managed 169 minutes of football since joining, but surely that’ll increase from here on in.
