The Celtic-bought striker has joked about his 18-month barren spell in front of goal.
On-loan Celtic striker Nadir Ciftci has admitted to BBC Sport that he didn’t know how to react after scoring for Motherwell on Saturday.
The 25-year-old grabbed a 79th-minute equaliser for the Fir Park club against Partick yesterday but the goal was of much more significance on an individual level.
Ciftci, who joined Celtic for £1.5 million (BBC Sport) in 2015, hadn’t scored a goal since a loan spell at Eskisehirspor 18 months ago.
The former Dundee United man endured failed loan spells at Pogon Szczecin and Plymouth in 2017, without finding the net for either club.
And the Hoops-owned striker suggested to BBC Sport that he forgot how to celebrate due to the lengthy barren spell.
“It’s been such a long time, I didn’t know what to do. I have mixed feelings. It is great to score a goal, but I think we deserved more than a point.”
No matter how well he does at Motherwell, it seems extraordinarily unlikely that he has a long-term future at Celtic while Brendan Rodgers is in charge.
The Northern Irishman has consistently loaned him out that’s unlikely to change come this summer when he returns to Parkhead, given his contract expires in 2019.
