Celtic man Lewis Morgan was once on the books at Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers.
Celtic winger Lewis Morgan has revealed to The Scottish Sun that he was released by Old Firm rivals Rangers because of his height.
The 22-year-old was axed by Rangers as an Under-17 player.
But Morgan went on to prove those at Auchenhowie wrong and fashioned a successful career at St Mirren, which ultimately earned him a move to Celtic last January.
The Scotland international hasn’t had a brilliant first season at Parkhead, starting just one of his 12 appearances across all competitions before being loaned to Sunderland last month.
Asked why he quit Rangers, Morgan, who is 5 foot 9, told the Scottish Sun: “I was actually released at Under-17 level. I hate to use the “too small” excuse but I think it was certainly a factor in me getting let go.
“It was Jim Sinclair in charge of the youth at that time so I’ve tried to make a point of proving him wrong.”
Morgan’s long-term future at Parkhead seems up in the air.
It was Brendan Rodgers who brought him to Glasgow, but the Northern Irishman sensationally quit the Hoops this week to become Leicester City’s new manager.
Neil Lennon has replaced him on an interim basis but it remains to be seen if the legendary figure will get the job beyond this summer.
Morgan has had a lukewarm first month down South, grabbing one assist and no goals from six League One outings.
