Celtic hitman Leigh Griffiths paid tribute to his team-mate on Tuesday night.

Speaking on Celtic’s official Twitter account, via The Glasgow Evening Times, striker Leigh Griffiths has hailed Moussa Dembele unselfish nature.

The Hoops moved 11 points clear of second-placed Rangers in the Scottish Premiership on Tuesday night by beating Hamilton 1-0 in the first of the three games in hand that Brendan Rodgers’s side have over the chasing pack.

Griffiths, making his second Premiership start in over a month, grabbed the winner in the first half after Dembele, who was through one on one, cut back for the Celtic hitman to eventually tap into an empty net.

The French striker, who has netted 17 times in all competitions this season, has been the one keeping his Scottish counterpart out of the side for the most part.

But Griffiths certainly appreciated the help from his striking rival at Parkhead last night.

“The manager has decided to change it up tonight and we tried to link up as best we could,” he said to the Hoops’ official Twitter page, via The GET.

“And I can’t thank the big man highly enough for his very unselfish act when we were running through on goal.”

It’s testament to Dembele’s form that Griffiths, who netted 40 times last season, has had to settle for a spot on the bench.

Plus, it gives Rodgers a fine replacement if and when Celtic decide to sell on the young French marksman.
