Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer is interested in a January loan move.
Celtic talent Kristoffer Ajer has told the Daily Record that he wants to speak to Brendan Rodgers about a possible loan move in January.
Ajer, 19, was Ronny Deila’s final signing for Celtic back in February 2016, as the Bhoys swooped to land Ajer from IK Start in his native Norway.
Having been billed up as one of the top youngsters in Europe, Ajer was seen as a major coup for Celtic, especially given alleged interest from a number of European giants.
Ajer, 19, only joined the Celtic squad in June 2016, a month after Deila’s exit, meaning he had to try and impress Brendan Rodgers – and so far, he has struggled to nail down a place in the Celtic side.
The Norwegian has switched between holding midfield and centre back under Rodgers, but he has made just seven first-team appearances for Celtic, with the Bhoys still waiting for him to really explode into life.
Ajer spent the second half of last season on loan at Kilmarnock before returning to Celtic over the summer, and it seems that the teenager seems to be eyeing another loan move.
Ajer has told the Daily Record that he intends to talk to manager Rodgers about a possible January loan move, though he did acknowledge that there are a number of top players in the position he plays.
“The transfer window opens on January 1, so I’ll talk to (Brendan) Rodgers and hear what the plan is for me,” said Ajer. “I’m 19-years old and play in midfield for the league champions so it’s clear there are many good international players at the club. There are many good players I compete with, but I have played good games already so they ( Celtic) are very positive,” he added.
