Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers reportedly wants Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney in the summer transfer window.

Celtic defender Kieran Tierney has told The Daily Record that he is not planning to move to Leicester City.

Brendan Rodgers recently left his managerial role at Celtic and is now in charge of Leicester in the Premier League.

Tierney is one of the best young left-backs in Europe, and the 21-year-old flourished under Rodgers.

According to The Scottish Sun, the Scotland international is on the radar of Leicester manager Rodgers.

It has been reported that the former Liverpool boss will make a £25 million move for the left-back in the summer transfer window should Ben Chilwell leave for Manchester City.

Tierney, though, has made it clear that he does not plan to leave Celtic for Leicester.

Tierney told The Daily Record: “There are going to be rumours like that. I’ve seen and heard them as well.

“I’ve been on the end of speculation for a few transfer windows so it’s nothing different for me. It doesn’t take my mind off Celtic.

“My pals ask me too and there will be links with a lot of Celtic players. It’s natural because it’s his old club but it’s nothing I know of.”

Celtic stay

Playing for Leicester in the Premier League will enhance Tierney’s reputation, but the youngster is a Celtic fan and is loving life at the Hoops.

There is no point in the 21-year-old joining Leicester in the summer transfer window, as in the coming years, he could get offers from much bigger clubs than the former Premier League champions.
