Celtic’s Jonny Hayes has a huge month ahead of him.

It’s difficult to work out why Jonny Hayes simply hasn’t impressed at Celtic.

The Irish winger was the only non-Celic player involved in the Player of the Year nominations last season after scoring nine and setting up 12 goals for Aberdeen last season.

Such impressive form earned him a £1.3 million move to the Hoops but, fast forward six months, Hayes is arguably already fighting to save his career at Parkhead.

The 30-year-old has been reduced to cameo roles under Brendan Rodgers and it seems like a January exit could be on the cards unless he proves the Northern Irishman wrong and has a big December.

Rotation will be key for Rodgers in handling the hectic festive period and the Hoops have no fewer than nine games in all competition in the space of 31 days.

Hayes is likely to get more chances, and chances from the start, and if he can rediscover his 2016-17 form before January then it might well just see Rodgers elect to keep him beyond the transfer window.

If he can’t, offloading Hayes – who has no goals and no assists in 10 games this season – is the best option.
