James Forrest claims Celtic players wanted to say goodbye to Brendan Rodgers.

James Forrest has admitted to The Scottish Herald that he and his Celtic team-mates would have liked to say goodbye to Brendan Rodgers.
Celtic were rocked last Tuesday when Rodgers left the club to join Leicester City, less than 48 hours after a 4-1 win over Motherwell at Parkhead.
The Northern Irishman informed his backroom team and Hoops captain Scott Brown of the decision in person last Monday, but the rest of the players discovered the news after it was already in the media.
Rodgers won seven domestic trophies out of a possible seven during a record-breaking stint in Glasgow, and he was on course to mastermind a historic third successive treble.
And Forrest, who had a phonecall with his former boss on Thursday, has revealed that it would have been nice if all the players had the chance to wish him well in person.
He told The Scottish Herald: “I have spoken to him since. I’m not sure if he has been phoning round all the guys. It’s been a bit mental, we’ve had a game and so have Leicester.
“Sometimes in football things can happen so fast. I think everyone would like to have said bye but it can’t always be like that.”
Rodgers has certainly angered the Celtic fans, but the players clearly had a lot of affinity for him, going by Forrest’s comments.
The 46-year-old lost his opening game in charge of the Foxes, as Watford snatched a dramatic 2-1 win at Vicarage Road on Sunday afternoon.
Under Lennon, Celtic have won both of their games – a 2-1 win at 10-man Hearts in midweek, and a 2-0 Scottish Cup victory at Hibernian on Saturday.
