Celtic winger James Forrest has told The Glasgow Evening Times that he is flattered to have been linked with FC Zenit Saint Petersburg.

The Scottish Sun claimed last month of interest in Forrest from Russian Premier League club FC Zenit Saint Petersburg.

The report stated that Zenit were prepared to pay £12 million as transfer fee for the Scotland international winger, and that they were willing to pay the 28-year-old a weekly salary of £70,000.

Forrest has said that he was flattered to know about reported interest from Zenit, but he has made it clear that he does not plan to leave Celtic anytime soon.

Forrest told The Glasgow Evening Times: “I got a wee bit of confidence from that [Zenit interest], but I’ve always said I love playing at Celtic.

“I’m going to do everything I can to be here for a few more years yet. Celtic is a massive club.”

Celtic stay

Forrest has been on the books of Celtic his entire professional club football career so far, and he has established himself as a key figure for the Hoops.

The winger has been playing consistently well for the past few seasons, and at the age of 28, he is at the peak of his powers.

Celtic are a massive club, and Forrest will be a key figure in their quest for 10 in a row.
