Ronald Koeman is under fire at Goodison Park – but should Everton sound out the potential appointment of Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers?

The dreaded vote of confidence given to Ronald Koeman by Everton’s majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri was more believable than most.
Despite a 1-0 home defeat to Burnley that sent The Toffees into the international break just two points above the relegation zone, you don’t get the feeling that the patient Moshiri will go back on his word any time soon and hand Koeman a freshly-printed P45.
Nonetheless, The Sun is reporting that Everton are still considering their options if push does indeed come to shove and the club is forced to show Koeman the door. Though former Watford manager Walter Mazzarri, who proved to be deeply unpopular with both players and fans at Vicarage Road, is not quite the proven, high-profile successor Everton fans would be dreaming of.

Neither would Brendan Rodgers. Yet, you get the feeling that a former Liverpool coach may be exactly what The Toffees need to kick their revolution into life.
From Red to Blue?
After all, the current Celtic manager’s stock could hardly be higher at the moment. Rebuilding his reputation after a disappointing end to a Liverpool career that promised so much in the autumn of 2015, Celtic cruised to a first domestic treble since 2001 in Rodgers’ debut campaign last season.
Did we mention they went the entire season unbeaten? Now, The Bhoys are used to success but Rodgers instilled a real togetherness and a winning mentality that had been lacking under predecessor Ronny Deila. It is this level of spirit that Everton have lacked this season, much to Koeman’s frustration.

Furthermore, The Toffees are a team built on young talent despite their £140 million summer outlay. And there are few better managers than Rodgers at getting the best out of promising, fresh-faced potential.
Kieren Tierney, Moussa Dembele, Daniel Sturridge, Raheem Sterling and Scott Sinclair are just a few who have enjoyed the finest spells of their careers under Rodgers so imagine what he could do for Tom Davies, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and co.
The question is whether Everton fans would take to a man fired by their Merseyside rivals just two years ago.
