Marvin Compper has made just one appearance for Celtic.

Celtic’s January signing Marvin Compper continues to be conspicuous by his absence from the first team.
Compper was signed to steady an ailing defence in January and he has played just one game since joining.
This came in the Scottish Cup quarter-final against Morton in March and he has not figured since, and made the bench in the league only once.
Already it looks like Brendan Rodgers’ sketchy track record of signing defenders has struck again and Compper has a big point to prove.
It’s too early though to completely write off the 32-year-old German, who should get next season to prove himself.

Compper struggled with injuries during the first half of the season at RB Leipzig and made only three appearances.
This should perhaps have been a red flag for Celtic, and so it proved with Compper picking up an injury in January.
While there is no official word on his status it is suspected that fitness problems continue to contribute to his first team absence.
Yet looking to sell him this summer could be futile, and not only because they may not find a buyer.

Celtic need to give Compper a full pre-season to adjust and start afresh.
He is vastly experienced and could well be an improvement on the raw talents of Dedryck Boyata and Jack Hendry.
Celtic need him to be, and while there is legitimate cause for concern, the club need to give it another year before making a decision over his future.
