Celtic have not always got it right when it comes to doing business during the January transfer window.

Here in the second part of HITC Sport’s look at some of Celtic’s most memorable January deals, we rank perhaps the top five worst moves they have pulled off during the winter window…

5. Morten Rasmussen

Morten Rasmussen – nicknamed Duncan after ex-Rangers forward Duncan Ferguson – boasted a strong record in Denmark by the time he arrived at Celtic in January 2010. However, his time at Parkhead certainly failed to capture the imagination as he scored just twice in 10 Scottish Premiership games for the club.

4. Holmbert Fridjonsson

During the Iceland international’s two-year stay with Celtic, he failed to make a single first-team appearance before his departure in 2015.

3. Paul Slane

Paul Slane arrived during the same window as Rasmussen and made even less of an impact as injuries and loan spells meant that he made just one league appearance for the Hoops. He left the club three years later and was not able to find another team until September 2014.

2. Colin Kazim-Richards

During Ronny Deila’s final season at Celtic, Bhoys supporters’ main concern regarding the team was what would happen if Leigh Griffiths sustained an injury. And those concerns were certainly not alleviated by the arrival of Colin Kazim-Richards. The striker scored once in 11 league games and left just a handful of months in to his two and a half year deal (via BBC Sport).

1. Willo Flood

When a player himself is saying that joining his boyhood club may have been a mistake (via Sky Sports), you know that things have definitely not gone right. That is exactly how Willo Flood reflected upon his move to Parkhead. During his time with the club he failed to win the fans over, and his departure in 2010 was probably met with little disappointment, including from the player himself.
