Celtic re-signed left-back in the summer.

The way Celtic signed Emilio Izaguirre in the summer said so much.
Izaguirre was not signed early on as part of a clearly coherent transfer strategy, to spend pre-season with his teammates.
Instead he signed on August 8, after the season had already begun.
Izaguirre was a quick and convenient transfer to provide cover for the left-back role.
Objectively he was not the best player Celtic could sign, just the easiest.

Izaguirre has largely sat behind Kieran Tierney, as expected, the left-back who took his place in the first team originally.
At the weekend he was shown up against Hibernian as Celtic slipped to defeat.
He was caught out of position, looked off the pace, and lasted just an hour before being substituted.
The Honduran has been a great servant to Celtic over the years, and it’s not his fault he was asked to return.
The problem is that he was asked in the first place.
