Andreas Christensen has lavished praise on the Celtic striker ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League encounter.
Celtic’s Dembele scores against city
Andreas Christensen has claimed via the Scottish Sun that in Moussa Dembele Celtic have a superstar of their own.
The Borussia Monchengladbach defender, who has already faced Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero this season’s Champions League, admits he is wary of the threat post by Celtic’s top scorer.
Christensen said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun: “Already this campaign I have come up against Aguero and (Barcelona’s Lionel) Messi, and they are unstoppable on their day. They are unplayable when they want to be and, in Dembele, Celtic have their own superstar.
Manchester City’s Aguero scores against Gladbach
“He might not be on the same level as Aguero and Messi yet, but he is scoring a lot of goals and has proved he is capable at the top level.
“You have to work hard to stop him. So much of Celtic’s success this season have come through his goals.”
Wednesday night’s Celtic Park clash will not be the first time that Christensen and Dembele have faced one another, having previously met while representing the respective youth teams of Chelsea and Fulham.
Dembele in action for Fulham
It was from Fulham that Dembele arrived at Celtic during the summer transfer window, and the Frenchman has already struck 13 goals for his new side.
However, Dembele will find it tough to replicate Aguero’s matchday one exploits, with the Argentine netting a hat-trick against Christensen’s side, although Messi missed his side’s Gladbach clash despite the Dane’s claims.
Christensen is currently in his second campaign on loan to Gladbach, and his generally impressive displays suggest a return to Stamford Bridge could be on the cards next summer.
