Nadir Ciftci joined Motherwell on loan from Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic in the January transfer window.
Nadir Ciftci may have failed to make an impact at Celtic, but the Turkish forward could be playing in the final of the Scottish Cup for Motherwell.
The 26-year-old has scored one goal and provided one assist in 447 minutes of Scottish Premiership football for Motherwell since his loan switch from Celtic in the January transfer window, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
The former Portsmouth forward played his part after coming on as a substitute against Aberdeen in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup on Saturday afternoon.
Motherwell won 3-0 against Aberdeen and reached the final of the Scottish Cup.
However, for Ciftci to participate in the final, he will need Rangers to win against Celtic in the other semi-final tie at Hampden Park this afternoon, as he will be ineligible to play against his parent club.
Ciftci told The Motherwell Times: “I still belong to Celtic and obviously if I’m going to play in the final it needs to be a win for Rangers.
“But I’m not going to cheer for nothing. Just see how it comes and hopefully I can play in the final.”
A win for Rangers will work well for Ciftci, who joined Celtic from Dundee United in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £1.5 million.
