Celtic’s Dedryck Boyata is coming under fire for his latest performance.

Celtic's Dedryck Boyata celebrates winning the William Hill Scottish Cup Final between Aberdeen and Celtic at Hampden Park on May 27, 2017 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Celtic defender Dedryck Boyata has admitted that his performance for Belgium last night will result in sleepless nights.

The 27-year-old played the full 90 minutes as the Belgians lost 5-2 away to Switzerland in a Nations League encounter.

Boyata, who was linked with a move away from Celtic during the summer, was destroyed by television pundits afterwards for his performance.

And the former Manchester City youth has accepted much of the responsibility for what went wrong.

The Record quoted him as saying: “I won’t be sleeping very well for many days now. At 2-0 up, it should have been a time for us to control the game – instead the opposite happened.

“Many of our players were below their best against Switzerland and I have to include myself in that. We just had a very bad night defensively. It’s time for me to go back to basics and take it from there.

Boyata, who earns £14,000 per week at Celtic [Daily Star], is bound to attract interest again in January, with his contract set to expire in the summer.

That being said, his reported suitors might be thinking again after seeing his performance last night and it isn’t good for the Hoops if the interest isn’t as strong.

Celtic are almost certain to lose him for free in the summer unless offers are made in January, and the more offers mean that there is more of a chance of the Bhoys receiving a decent fee for him.
