Cristian Gamboa was taken off after just 45 minutes after making a rare start for Celtic in the Europa League this week.

Cristian Gamboa has taken to Twitter to send out a defiant message after he sustained an injury during Celtic’s Europa League defeat on Thursday.
Gamboa was handed the chance to make a rare start in Germany as Brendan Rodgers’ men prepared to face RB Leipzig. The Costa Rica international had not played for the Hoops in two months.
And it appears that he may have another lengthy spell on the sidelines ahead of him. The right-back sustained a hamstring injury and was replaced at the break as Celtic found themselves 2-0 down to the Bundesliga side.
He is a doubt for the League Cup semi-final. And given Rodgers’ apparent reluctance to use him, it would probably not be a huge surprise if he struggles to get back into the side even after he returns to full fitness.

But following the disappointing night in Europe, Gamboa took to social media to insist that he will return stronger despite the latest setback in his Hoops career…
While Gamboa appears to be referring to his injury, it is arguably not too great a leap to suggest that his tweet could have an ambiguous meaning.
It was the defender’s rash attempt to win the ball back down Celtic’s right flank that opened the door for Leipzig’s second. His mistimed challenge allowed the home side to get the ball into the box and knock the wind completely out of the visitors’ sails.
It was a costly error and one that he really did not need after such a difficult spell at Celtic. Coming back stronger now appears to be essential if Gamboa stands any hope of turning his situation around.
