Celtic’s Craig Gordon shares conversation with Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor

Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon has revealed to The Scottish Sun his conversation with Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor after the Ibrox club lost at Celtic Park this past weekend.

Steven Gerrard’s Rangers suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic away from home at Celtic Park in the Old Firm derby this past Sunday afternoon.

McGregor was arguably Rangers’ best player in the Scottish Premiership match and made a number of saves.

Celtic goalkeeper Gordon – who earns £8000 per week as salary, according to The Daily Star – has revealed what he and his Scotland international teammate McGregor, 36, spoke to each other about after the match.

The 35-year-old told The Scottish Sun about McGregor: “Of course I could admire his performance on Sunday. Absolutely. He had some good saves in the game.”

Gordon added: “I spoke to him on the pitch after Sunday’s game and congratulated him on his performance.

“When I saw him at the hotel on Monday, we just had a talk about the game and I asked him how he was feeling.

“I was just asking him how the body was holding up and swapping stories about how we’re both managing to keep going.”

Quality goalkeepers

Both Gordon and McGregor are quality goalkeepers who are fighting for a spot in the Scotland national team lineup.

The two Scotsmen are two of the best goalkeepers in the Scottish Premiership, and it will be fascinating to see who performs better this season.

Both Celtic and Rangers are aiming to challenge for the Scottish Premiership title this season.
