Celtic look set to sign Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster.
Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon has told The Scottish Sun that he still intends to be first-choice stopper at the club even if Fraser Forster signs.
The Bhoys need new signings before the transfer deadline, and many have called for Neil Lennon to land a new goalkeeper this summer.
Scott Bain is now injured, and with veteran Gordon the only other senior stopper in his ranks, Celtic are moving for another custodian between the sticks.
The Sun report that Southampton stopper Fraser Forster is set for a medical with Celtic ahead of rejoining the club he left back in 2014.
Forster was signed by Neil Lennon back in 2010, spending two seasons on loan with the club before signing permanently in 2012, as he came a star at Parkhead.
Forster headed to Southampton in 2014, where he impressed for a couple of years before falling completely out of favour on the South Coast.
The giant goalkeeper now looks set to return to Celtic, and just as Gordon regains the shirt from the injured Scott Bain, he looks set to lose it again.
However, Gordon remains adamant that he will push to be number one no matter who comes in, but claims he wouldn’t fight anyone for it physically – especially a giant like Forster.
“It doesn’t matter who is in here, I want to play,” said Gordon. “And the only way I can do that is by playing well. If he does bring in another goalkeeper, then I’ll need to play very well to make sure I keep my place. If I don’t, I’ll have to live with that.”
“I’ll happily fight anyone for their place. Not actually fight them! But you know what I mean. Not big Fraser, I wouldn’t fight him for it! But joking aside, that’s the mentality I have, no matter what,” he added.
