The Bhoys are reportedly front-runners to sign the Libyan international.
A couple of months ago it looked as though Libyan international Ahmad Benali was on his way to Celtic.
The Bhoys had reportedly agreed a deal to snap him up ahead of competition from Everton and Real Sociedad, according to a report from TMW.
The Italian source claimed that the midfield talent had accepted a deal with Celtic and will be joining the Glasgow club in the summer.
Benali was born and raised in Manchester. He spent 11 years on the books of Manchester City, spending an unhappy month on loan at Rochdale, but he has built an excellent reputation in Italian football with his performances in Serie B.
Recently it has been reported that the Celtic ‘deal’ is not as concluded as we have been led to believe. Just today it was reported by Gianluca Di Marzio that Chievo and Palermo were keen on the player.
Regardless of who is or is not after him, he is surely now easier to get. Brescia lost 3-2 to Bari this weekend, which has seen Brescia relegated from Serie B to the Lega Pro – the third tier of Italian football.
Benali is far too talented to be playing at such a level and will surely be on his way to someone, perhaps Celtic, this summer.
