Celtic’s youngster is relishing the prospect of facing Rosenborg.
Kristoffer Ajer has told The Daily Mail that he hopes the “brilliant” Celtic fans get to experience a Champions League tie with Rosenborg in his native Norway this summer.
Celtic have one foot in the next round of Champions League qualifiers after beating Linfield 2-0 in Belfast on Friday, ahead of the second leg on Wednesday night.
If and when Brendan Rodgers’s side finish the job, a third-round qualifier with the Norwegian giants could be in the offing after they drew 1-1 in Dundalk last week.
The 19-year-old is excited at the prospect of facing a team from his homeland, and Ajer – who arrived at Celtic last summer, having been signed by Ronny Deila – revealed that Scott Brown has taught him how to win duels.
“Celtic are a huge club with brilliant fans and a great history, so it would be big news for Norwegian football. Rosenborg are the biggest club in my country so it would get a lot of attention,” he told The Mail.
“The Norwegian league is quite strong but it’s not that physical compared to here.
“I learned a lot on that side when I came here from guys like Broony, in terms of how to go into duels and win them.”
Celtic could and definitely should have enough to get past Rosenborg. With their squad, in fact, Rodgers’s men should, in theory, ease into the group stages for a second season going.
