Celtic youngster Karamoko Dembele has been training with the first-team squad, since the summer arrival of manager Brendan Rodgers.

The former Liverpool manager decided to allow the 13-year-old to take part in a session with the senior side earlier this season, the Daily Record are reporting.

Dembele hit the headlines on Tuesday after it emerged that he had played the last nine minutes of Celtic’s developmental squad fixture against Hearts on Monday night and has since been linked with a number of Europe’s top clubs such as, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona.

Celtic’s head of youth development, Chris McCart, told the club’s official website that whilst he is pleased that Dembele played against players seven years older than him, he has warned that fans not to put too much pressure on the attacking midfielder.

McCart stated: “We were all delighted to see Karamoko make his debut for the development squad against Hearts. The fact he was playing against other players seven years his senior gives an indication of the quality this young boy possesses.

“What we need to remember though is that Karamoko is just 13-years-old. He has a lot of hard work ahead of him to make it to the top and we won’t rush that. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for this young player.”

Dembele replaced 16-year-old Jack Aitchison, who himself is seen as one of Celtic’s best youth prospects after the striker scored on his debut for the Hoops in their final Scottish Premiership match last season, when he became the youngest-ever player to represent the club.
