The summer arrival at Celtic is relishing the opportunity to play with the Scotland international.
Elyounoussi is beginning to massively impress in a Hoops shirt and show real consistency after his loan move from Southampton during the summer transfer window.
To date, he’s scored seven goals and assisted five more in just ten appearances. He now looks as firm a fixture on the left-wing as Forrest does on the right.
Positive for Celtic then that the Norwegian international is enjoying playing on the opposite flank to the homegrown talent.
As quoted by The Scottish Sun, Elyounoussi said: “I’ve been really impressed with James. He’s an amazing player.
“He set me up for my first goal against Hibs at the weekend with a great delivery and he is a top player. He’s a brilliant boy off the pitch as well. I enjoy playing with him.
“I knew that Celtic had a lot of quality before I arrived. Our top level is really good and if we maintain those levels, if not get even better, we can get a good result in Italy.”
A double threat in Italy
Elyounoussi references a trip to face Lazio on Thursday night in his comments. It’s a huge fixture for Celtic.
A positive result, either a draw or a win, would put them on the brink of qualification for the Europa League knockout stages.
While Forrest has been Celtic’s main outlet on the counter in Europe over the past few seasons, Elyounoussi will provide a double threat that could cause the Serie A side real problems.
The winger has already scored for the Hoops in the tournament this season and has nine other goals in UEFA competition at previous clubs. He has the class to make a real difference in Rome.
If he can prove vital again, calls for him to be signed permanently by Celtic will only grow.
