Lewis Morgan joined Celtic in January, but was loaned back to St. Mirren.
Celtic winger Lewis Morgan has told the Daily Record that he has no intention of leaving Parkhead on loan this summer, and instead wants to fight for a place in the first team.
The Hoops decided to sign 21-year-old Morgan after the winger tore up the Scottish Championship last season with St. Mirren, scoring 18 goals and adding another 13 assists during his 42 appearances.
Celtic signed Morgan in the January transfer window for a fee of £300,000, but immediately loaned the Scotland Under-21 international back to Jack Ross’ side as they looked to finish the season with promotion.
Morgan will now link up with the Celtic side ahead of the 2018-19 campaign, with huge competition ahead of him. But he is determined to fight for his place under Brendan Rodgers, instead of leaving on loan again.
“The first thing is for me to come back in for pre-season and get assessed from there,” he said. “All being well going back out on loan won’t be the case and I can kick on here,” Morgan said.
“That is what is on my mind at the moment. I’m planning on coming back for the new season to make sure I get into the team.”
Charly Musonda is set to return to Premier League giants Chelsea, while Patrick Roberts has finally ended his long-winded loan spell at Celtic by confirming he will rejoin Manchester City.
It leaves a space on the flanks to fill at Celtic, with the Hoops only boasting James Forrest, Scott Sinclair and long-term injury absentee Jonny Hayes. It could see Morgan used next season.
