Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic will have as many four players at the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia this summer.

Defender Dedryck Boyata will play for Belgium, right-back Mikael Lustig will feature for Sweden, attacking midfielder Tom Rogic will represent Australia, while Cristian Gamboa will turn out for Costa Rica.

Given that the Champions League qualifiers start in the middle of July, Celtic could find it tricky.

However, every cloud has a silver lining.

According to The Daily Record, Celtic will receive £800,000 due to having four players in Russia, as FIFA make payments to clubs who have their players at the World Cup.

The Hoops could use that £800,000 payment on signing players in the summer transfer window or keep it in the bank for future use.

Challenging for another treble

Celtic have won the domestic treble for the past two seasons, and the Glasgow giants will be aiming to make it three in a row.

The Hoops will also be looking to book their spot in the Champions League group stage for the third season in a row.
