Swansea City defender Connor Roberts is reportedly on the radar of Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic.

According to The Daily Express, Celtic are interested in Connor Roberts, but the Swansea City defender’s latest comments suggest that Brendan Rodgers is unlikely to be able to convince him to move to Celtic Park anytime soon.

The Daily Express reported last week that Celtic are keeping tabs on Roberts to provide Mikael Lustig with competition.

The Scottish Premiership giants’ hopes of landing the 23-year-old right-back suffered a blow on Thursday, as the Wales international signed a new contract with Swansea.

As announced on the Welsh outfit’s official website, Roberts has put pen to paper on a new contract with the Championship club in England until the summer of 2022.

The Welshman has also said that he plans to play in the Premier League with Swansea, with the Swans having been relegated from the Championship at the end of last season.

Roberts told WalesOnline:“I want to play in a major tournament for my country, I want to play in the Premier League for Swansea, there is always something else and you can always get better.”

With Roberts fostering ambitious of playing in the most popular and richest domestic league in the world, it is hard to see Celtic convince the right-back to move to the Hoops next summer, especially if the Swans get promoted.
